Large Heron
| The Heron feathers we offer come from a bird within the Heron family that is very plentiful in its area of the world. It is a nonmigratory species and is not on the CITES List (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species). Under International Law they are completely legal to import. We have sent these feathers to customers in over 25 different countries. The United States does restrict the importing of ALL Heron feathers. Because of this our Heron product are not available to our US friends. |
| The ORIGINAL spey feather (other than the extinct Spey Cock). If you have tied with Heron substitutes like Rhea or Blue Eared Pheasant, you will quickly notice how much better the original is. Our natural Heron is the premium feathers that have been dyed over the natural chocolate colour. The dye jobs are strong, though they are covering a darker colour in most cases. This gives the feathers a natural looking transition where the bright dye colour is very evident at the base of the plume and the colour gets darker as you move up the feather. These are the plumes you are after if you are wrapping these as traditional spey plumes. The stems are very supple and the feather quality is fantastic!
